Trauma Processing Through Somatic Work
Trauma doesn’t only live in memory, it lives in the body. This work helps you connect to what’s happening physically and emotionally, without necessarily needing to know or tell the full story. Especially supportive for those who feel stuck in talk therapy and/ or who can’t easily access verbal memory.
My rates are:
$880 for a 90 min session
$550 for a 60 min session

Trauma Processing Through Somatic Work
Some experiences are too big for words. Trauma doesn’t just imprint on memory, it embeds itself in the nervous system. In your posture, your breath, your muscle tension, your gut. It shapes how you respond to the world, often long after the event itself has passed. Somatic trauma therapy offers a different way in, not through retelling, but through relearning safety, from the inside out.
At Modern Holistic Psychiatry, we work with somatic therapy to support trauma that hasn’t fully responded to talk therapy alone. For many people, especially those who struggle to access verbal memory or feel overwhelmed when trying to explain what happened, body-based approaches can offer a way to process without reactivating. We explore sensations, breath, and body awareness as tools for regulation, expression, and release—drawing from somatic experiencing therapy, and trauma-informed nervous system practices.
Reconnecting Through Somatic Body Work
In this work, we move slowly. Somatic therapy is not about pushing through, but listening closely. We might begin with simple somatic therapy exercises or grounding techniques to help you feel more anchored. Over time, you may start to notice where emotion lives in your body, how certain movements or breath patterns shift your state, and where old survival responses are still running the show.
Somatic release therapy doesn't mean re-living trauma, it means creating enough safety in the body to let go of what no longer needs to be held. It’s often not a linear process, and it’s never forced. Whether we’re using movement, stillness, imagery, or breath, this process honours your pace. It’s about rebuilding trust with your own system, so that healing becomes not just something you think about, but something you feel.
My approach combines clinical knowledge with deep respect for the body’s wisdom. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner trained in trauma and somatic work, I’ll help guide you through this process with steadiness, care, and attunement to your unique needs.
