Psychotherapy (DBT)

If you’re seeking more structure to work with your emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness, this approach may be for you. May include practical strategies and in-between-session tools.

Psychotherapy (DBT-Informed)

Sometimes what’s most needed in therapy is a little more structure. DBT-informed psychotherapy offers practical, skills-based support for navigating big emotions, strengthening relationships, and staying grounded through distress. If you find yourself overwhelmed by emotional swings, stuck in all-or-nothing thinking, or unsure how to self-regulate in the moment, this approach can help you develop tools to move through life with more clarity and ease.

This work is rooted in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a model that balances acceptance with change. In our sessions, we might explore how to tolerate distress without shutting down, how to respond rather than react, or how to stay connected to your body when things feel intense. As a DBT counsellor, I also share simple, tailored tools that you can use in real time—so the support doesn’t stop when the session ends.

DBT-Informed, Adapted to You

My approach to DBT is warm, thoughtful, and personalised. I draw from behavior therapy, mindfulness, and relational practices, but I don’t follow a rigid protocol. We adapt the work together, based on your nervous system, your goals, and how things actually feel day to day. I know from experience that skills only land when they’re offered with respect and space, not pressure.

If you’re someone who wants structure without losing the depth of therapeutic relationship, this might be a good fit. At Modern Holistic Psychiatry, I hold a small number of clients at a time so we can move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive. Whether you’re managing chronic stress, emotional intensity, or just want more day-to-day tools to feel steady, this work can meet you where you are.
