When your body reacts before your mind can catch up, it can feel like the ground disappears. A racing heart. Shaky limbs. Trouble breathing. Even when you're not in danger, panic attacks can make it feel like something’s terribly wrong. They can come on without warning, or linger as a background fear, leaving you hyper-aware, avoiding situations, or feeling disconnected from yourself.
At Modern Holistic Psychiatry, our approach to panic attack therapy is not to simply treat the symptoms, but to listen to what they’re saying. Whether your panic is sudden or long-standing, rooted in OCD panic attacks, health anxiety, or past overwhelm, our work begins with compassion and curiosity. You don’t have to force yourself through it. We go gently, together.
A Grounded, Somatic Approach to Panic Attacks
Panic doesn’t respond to logic, it responds to safety. That’s why our approach includes talk therapy, somatic tools, body-based regulation, relational work, and integrative care to support both your mind and nervous system. We might map the patterns of your panic attacks, build a toolkit for real-time grounding, or explore where the fear began. If medication is part of the picture, we’ll look at how it’s helping, and what else might support you. If it’s not, that’s okay too.
There’s no single formula for panic attack treatment. Together, we find what helps. And just as importantly, we pay attention to what hasn’t helped before, so that this time, it feels different. More grounded. More doable. And more shaped around what safety and support actually mean for you.
